Welcome to the MONITOR Homepage
The aim of this homepage is to support actors with information needs on long-term air transport development, especially for strategic analysis, modelling activities and quantification exercises. To reach this aim the website offers a monitoring system consisting of three elements, which represent altogether a systematic and complementary view on the long-term development of air transport:
Monitoring System
| | [+ ]MONITOR Database [+ ]Indicator System [+ ]Future Studies [- ]MONITOR Database The (meta-) database offers detailed information on air transport relevant sources with regard to development statistics and analyses. Those deal on the one hand with air transport internal topics but cover on the other hand also relevant framework developments. Due to IPR issues it was not possible to make many of these sources publicly available on this webpage. However, their content, accessibility and quality are in detail described by meta-data attributes what allows to estimate the value of a source with regard to different usages. Database Details [+ ]Indicator System [+ ]Future Studies [+ ]MONITOR Database [- ]Indicator System The indicator section contains a preliminary set of 40 indicators on global air transport development. This indicators provide a fast and clear overview on long-term trends in the air transport sector dealing with topics such as the global airline fleet, airline traffic and financial performance, airport traffic and financial performance and the development of air transport in the context of sustainability. Indicator System Details [+ ]Future Studies [+ ]MONITOR Database [+ ]Indicator System [- ]Future Studies The scenario section provides an overview on the CONSAVE 2050 scenarios (Constrained Scenarios on Aviation and Emissions). The objective linked to this set of scenarios was to design and evaluate a set of four scenarios with regard to the long-term air transport development. In the MONITOR project the framework data and air transport assumptions were updated and exemplary quantified in order to address the progress in the air transport sector and hint at new trends since the first generation of the CONSAVE 2050 scenarios was published. Project background
The project "MONITOR" – Monitoring System of the Development of Global Aviation - was funded in the EC research 7th framework programme and accomplished in cooperation of DLR (German Aerospace Center), NLR (National Aerospace Laboratory), the International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), Slot Consulting and the Center for Aviation Competence of the University of St. Gallen.
